Among our five senses, smell is the one that is most capable of evoking emotions, moods, and memories. According to research, the scents of our environment mainly enter the area of our brain responsible for behavior and memory as information. This is why it often happens that a familiar scent takes us back to our childhood memories before we become aware of what we really feel.
Scents and smells therefore play a very important role in our lives: they are used to record situations and events, warn us of danger or just lull us into harmony.
We also communicate with our environment through the smell of our body, so what surrounds us is very important.
The history of perfumes, which goes back to ancient times, also tells about this. However, it reached its true heyday in medieval France, because, according to bad language, the hygiene ideas of the time were, to put it mildly, significantly different from our understanding today, i.e. the scents distilled and extracted from various flowers were meant to cover the body odor caused by not washing. Later, however, with the strengthening of the perfume industry, the selected fragrance composition became a means of self-expression.
Aromatherapy, the science of healing with scents, shows which scents have which effects, thus helping us navigate this vast and magical realm.
Jasmine is the “queen of the night” among fragrances: its flowers reveal their strong and mysterious fragrance especially after sunset. The essential oil consists of such sensitive ingredients that it is not obtained by distillation, but rather by extracting the fragrance with a solvent (alcohol), which is then gently concentrated (Jasmin absolute, vacuum distillation). This way, they get a much fuller and stronger essential oil, of which a few drops are enough to achieve a long-lasting effect.
The mysterious, delicate scent of jasmine has long been the embodiment of femininity, kindness, hope, happiness and love. It is an excellent antidote to gloom, a sad, depressed mood: it calms, suggests harmony, and helps us to gain self-confidence.
